Long-term monitoring of coral health at Wai'opae, Hawai'i Island
Aloha and welcome to the interactive Waiopae long-term monitoring website. This site has been created to provide a virtual tour of this unique ecosystem. Our research team has been monitoring the health of six coral species (Montipora capitata, Montipora flabellata, Montipora patula, Pavona varians, Pocillopora meandrina, and Porites lobata) throughtout this site for several years. Using this website you can virtually explore the tide pools as well as examine the health of each monitored colony.
